Summer vacation is almost here. You may be planning some special activities for you and your family to enjoy. Boating is a fun way to spend time with your family during the summer months. There are several activities that you, and your family, can do together that involve using a boat. These activities include tubing, knee boarding and a picnic.
Tubing
The whole family will have a blast riding on a tube that is being pulled by the boat. Over the past decade, tubing has become a very popular water activity. You can use a single or double tube. Single tubes are for one person, but it is always fun to have company along while using the double tube. The faster the boat goes, and the more waves there are, the more fun the ride is. Many people have a hard time staying on the tube when it jumps over waves, but falling off is sometimes the funnest part.
Knee Boarding
This looks like an easy water sport, but it isn't all that easy. It takes a lot of strength to pull the body up onto the knee board and a lot more to stay there. Like tubing, the speed of the boat, and the waves, make it hard to stay on the board. Once your family members get use to knee boarding, you can try to do some tricks.
Water Skiing
This sport doesn't seem to be as popular as it once was, but it is still a fun boating activity. Standing on skis in the water can be a challenge, even after you get used to the activity. When you have practiced the activity, and learned it well, two family members can ski beside each other.
Fishing
Catching fish for food or sport is another great boating activity. Bring poles, tackle and bait, and spend the afternoon in the boat fishing with your family. Make sure you know the fishing regulations. Don't keep any fish that are too small. If you don't like to eat fish, you can fish for sport. After a fish is caught, you can take it off the hook and let it go.
Picnic
Make a picnic lunch and load the family into the boat. Take the boat to the most peaceful part of the lake and have a picnic on the water. Use this time to talk with your family about other summer activities you would like to do, or just life in general.
